How to find us

Cheryl and Brian would like to welcome you to the Bamfield and the McKay Bay Lodge.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

• Ferry to Nanaimo from Horseshoe Bay (30 minutes North of Vancouver) or take the Tswassen Ferry (45 minutes south of Vancouver) Time: 1.5 hrs from Horseshoe Bay or 2 hrs from Tswassen.


From Nanaimo travel north on the Island Highway to Port Alberni (approx. 1 hr) Follow the road signs to Bamfield, on a 90 km well maintained logging road (approx. 1 hr 45 min).

From Swartz Bay travel south to Victoria (20 min.), take the Island Hwy North to Duncan (1 hr) travel east to Lake Cowichan, following road signs to Bamfield a 2 hr 15 min drive on a 120 km logging road - 4 hr total *** TIP*** just follow the power poles.
 
• Port Alberni launch at Clutes Haven Marina, 5140 River Road, Port Alberni, phone 250-724-6837 Boat down the inlet to Barkley Sound and into BAMFIELD - Go up past the Coast Guard and past the Red Cross Hospital, on the right, we are just past that, by the Government Wharf. OTHER LAUNCHES: China Creek Marina 250-723-9812 at 15 min drive from Port Alberni. 
   
• LADY ROSE/FRANCIS BARKLEY leaves Port Alberni at 8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday yearly. On Saturdays they go to Kildonan, transportation can be arranged from there to BAMFIELD. July, August and September they leave every day except Mondays and Wednesdays. For more information call 250-723-8313 or 1-800-663-7192. 
   
• The WEST COAST TRAIL EXPRESS (250-477-8700) leaves VICTORIA (and also picks up in Naniamo) daily starting in May until September and goes back to Victoria the same day.


WESTERN BUS LINES: From Port Alberni, June - September, Fridays and Sundays. Leaves Port Alberni 1 p.m., leaves Bamfield at 3:30 p.m. 250-723-3341.
